Our Sherwood Design team recently celebrated huge success after winning a prestigious international award in recognition of our Mosman Park project, Casablanca.
Travelling to London with Greg and little Ava, Rosie and I were bestowed the honour by the Society of British and International Design Awards (SBID), as winners in the Residential House Over £1M Australasia category for 2024.
After being shortlisted in our category, our family instinctively knew that we needed to share this extraordinary moment together. Flying from Perth to London with a 3 year old is no small feat, but from the moment we arrived at the beautiful Ember Locke Apartments in Kensington, we felt immediately at home. The space enveloped us in a warm hug, with it’s stunning Misia fabrics and relaxed atmosphere.
We spent the day dolling ourselves up and upon arrival at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, we were greeted with flutes of champagne. We mingled with peers, made new connections, and had the pleasure of meeting the lovely @nuinfinity (an interior design studio & creator/manager of @designseedstudio).
As we sat down to a decadent dinner, we found ourselves surrounded by the best in the design world. Rosie, Greg and I looked at each other for a moment, simultaneously feeling the weight of this moment; the excitement of “we did it” balanced by the humility of “we can’t believe it”.
We were seated with a fantastic group, including @brucekennethdesigns, who won the Contract Furniture Award. It was inspiring to see such incredible designs and hear the vision behind each one.
We were thrilled to hear our name called as the SBID 2024 Regional Winner for the Australasia Region. Receiving that trophy will forever be one of my most treasured memories.
It was truly incredible to share this monumental and surreal occasion with my parents. Rose and Greg started Sherwood Design and Sherwood Furniture respectively nearly 40 years ago, and I’m incredibly proud to continue their legacy. On the night, they were the definition of proud parents, beaming with joy.
Without them, the grandeur of Casablanca (and our other exceptional projects) would be incomplete. Rose and I worked closely together on the interior design of Casablanca, while Greg played a key role in creating some of the most important bespoke pieces for the project. It was so special to see our family’s achievements celebrated on the world stage.
2025 is looking incredibly exciting for the Sherwood Group. We have some fantastic interior design projects in the works, along with beautiful bespoke furniture commissions. We’re continuing the founding principles of quality, craftsmanship, and design excellence that have always defined Sherwood.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to push our designs into new and exciting directions, blending timeless style with contemporary creativity. We’ll focus on creating more meaningful, sustainable designs, while continuing to elevate the standards that set us apart in the design world.
Up next: Your award-winning project.
